It's not fair, I have to pay for other people's work *rage rage*

Alright, been a few days, a lot of work here and there, soaking up information things of that nature, and spending my time pointing and laughing at specific people on the Champions Online forums as they pronounce how blindly stupid they are and demonstrate world class levels of hypocrisy that only politicians are capable of. So, now on this point and the disclaimer; If you are over sensitive, feel you might walk out of this blog with a seething ability to rage, or pronounce the blogger as a "fanboi" then you probably want to turn around right now and go read something else that will give you cuddles and sunshines in your blinder led life of plugging your ears and only following the crowd as they find the next new thing to hatorade on.
Alright, now that's done, anyone still reading well you were warned. Now, I've spent the last few days thinking on this and yes, it actually concerns the announcement of Vibora Bay. I can't say I wasn't rather shocked or whatever for the announcement that it would be paid for expansion, but I can't say I am upset about it. Not really. What I am shocked about is the same five people, and a couple of new stragglers, that have their heads shoved so far up their ass that they can lick their own tonsils telling Cryptic is being greedy, as they sit their and proclaim they are going to go running to another company picking up their shovel and ready to boiler feed it in by the trough loads to them. (For those that really have to ask, boiler feeding is what coal shovelers did in ships and the train engineer of the olden days, aka shoveling their money in to burn).
No, I really don't see a difference either. Currently I am waiting to see what all is offered and what the price will be before I make final judgment on it, but to sit there and proclaim another company is more generous when their front page is full of ads and stuff for buy my stuff is laughably pathetic. Several of these individuals on the forum I know rushed out and went and bought DLC content from Valve as a full price box just recently and I know they are ready to pay for more content for a game just released by BioWare. And many of them have the wads and fistfuls of cash ready to go to pay Blizzard not just for an expansion that is reselling old content (disguise it all you want it is repackaging old content, oh and Paragon is doing that to BTW) some of them are so enamored that they are going to pay Blizzard three times for the same game, as well as another game. Can you say, hypocrite?
When the hell did humanity get this greedy? And I don't mean the companies I mean people, players, etc. This is like someone walking into a store, picking up a post card, buying it, and expecting to walk out with the $50 toaster just because they bought the post card. I am sure some people will throw out that monthly fee thing like it's a shield to protect their lives or whatever, but come on, some of you people pay or even paid Wal-Mart for the privilege to shop at Sam's Club. Now you're being a true hypocrite.
A subscription fee doesn't entitle you anything to the game, and paid for expansions have been the mainstay of the MMO community for ages. I've been seeing people trying to shoot out examples and such left and right, but each of their examples is just as much a paid for item as is the new expansion coming up.
Again, I can't say that I wasn't confused and shocked to hear that the first major update to CO was going to be paid for. But, if I turned around and raged after supporting other companies in the same effort, I would be a true hypocrite in the matter, and in the long run, what you are doing is you are telling the creators they need to slave and potentially not get paid for you.
Tell some of you people what. Think about this. When you go out, bust your butt for an entire day at whatever job you do, think of how you would honestly feel if your employers decided to turn around and tell you that you aren't going to get paid, that they expect you to do your job for free, that the privilege to work their alone should be good enough for you. Cause in essence, that is what some of you are acting like.
In the end, all the nerdraging and hatorade being passed around isn't anything but greed; Not corporate greed in this case, but player greed. I can't sit here and honestly believe that people honestly think that MMO companies are charities and aren't out to make money or something, or some people honestly believe that making a game is easy. But of course, if WoW does it, it's okay, just can't be anyone else these days I guess.

I agree with some of your points, specifically:
I have a lifetime to CO and STO. I feel I have gotten my money's worth as well. I wish Vibora Bay was free, but I'm not going to cry if it isn't. I will wait and see what is offered and for how much, then I will determine if I fee its worth the price.Quote:A subscription fee doesn't entitle you anything but the game,
I purchase from the C-Store all the time, and will probably continue to do so. Nothing there is REQUIRED for you to play the game. So it is with Vibora Bay, it grants more variety and content for certain levels, but again is not REQUIRED for gameplay.
Again this touches on my nerve about entitlement and the spoiled kiddies out there who do nothing but, whine, complain and rage because everything isn't handed to them on a silver platter.Posted 01-31-2010 at 06:08 PM by Phlux

Look's like my blog struck a nerve. Rating 1 star and someone tried to put whine whine whine tags on it. Guess when you speak the truth the trolls come out in force
If you are going to try and attack, make a post so we can all point and laugh at you as you try to tell us your cashier job at Wal-Mart makes you a market analyst, or your ability to turn your computer on in the morning makes you a server tech.Posted 02-02-2010 at 05:26 PM by Silverspar
